The Pending World Collection

America remains open despite the circumstances. Across The Pending World, missing hours erase the wrong crime scenes, old judgments begin enforcing themselves, rivers choose new mouths, and impossible events settle over ordinary towns without relieving anyone of their usual responsibilities. These regional story collections follow the stubborn, frightened, resourceful people left to negotiate with a reality that has stopped following its own rules, and with the Office of Consequence, whose arrival has not historically guaranteed improvement.
